Susan – Are you still planning to post the part II of your summary report?
Just curious, this is your blog and wonder why anyone would want a summary to be delayed. Just curious.
Yes, I was asked by 2 different parties to hold it off for another few days.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
Dumb question from someone who has never played in a tournament: why are the participants required to keep and sign a record of the game?
Are there rules on this?
Also I really got interested in this WCC match. I think a lot of it had to do with being able to follow along thanks to Susan’s excellent contemporaneous analysis. It really made clear what was happening for me. This made it very exciting!
Thanks, GM Susan!
Susan: Your chess blog fans are the real parties who look forward to the part 2 analysis. Don’t worry about the other two parties whom you are concerned with. Please go ahead and publish it! We will defend you!
Susan: Do you have any insider info on the speculation that Topalov and team had used a Rybka4 cluster with about 120 processor cores for the match preparation.
Apparently the sale of Rybka4 was stalled until the end of the match!
“Rybka4 cluster with about 120 processor cores for the match preparation”
P-shaw! Vishy has millions of cores between his ears!
Just goes to show what a HUGE loss this is to Topalov, his manager, and to Bulgaria in general.
I am sure Danialov must have absolutely positively convinced the PM that he had figured it out and Topa will be the winner. Why else would a PM personally guarantee that kind of prize money?
For chess fans the biggest relief is that the games were played fairly without any accusations, allegations of unfair play.
On the trophy – Check out this link for the trophy that was presented to Topalov. Not sure what tournament it is from but kind of gives you a perspective.

Susan,
pls forget the 2 different parties ( presume Karpov & Kasparov. Unfotunately neither Kirsan nor Karpov have the leadership qualities. ) We are not interested in elections.
You have orginal style of reporting which brings out brilliantly the actual psychological dynamics of he match.
I am sure all the chess friends all over over would support me in urging you to forget 2 different parties !!
Cheers
I wouldn’t be too fussy about the trophy although for a showcase event of FIDE it should be befitting which does not seem to be the case.
Someone brought up an interesting topic. Is chess the only sport in the world where the presentation happens days after it is over?
I am thinking of Olympics, NFL, Soccer, Tennis, Badminton, pretty much all of them finish it on the same day. Is this something to think about?
Typically the trophies are displayed much earlier and throughout the match many times, the rival team captains hold the trophies for the press before the match. Why is chess unique in that aspect? Will this not help increase its appeal?
Thoughts?
One can only assume that had Topa won,he would have got a different trophy. Hence the inability? of the organiser to showcase it?
Hot news. I just played a simul with 40 players. I was thinking that will solve all my chess problems.
The score: I lost 37 games, 1 draw, and 2 wins 🙂
But hey it was fun to walk around like a GM and everybody who won thought it was a great achievement. I sure made them feel good.
Wonder what is the worst simul score ever by a real GM.
