Iasi County Chess Association, the World Chess Federation (FIDE), the Romanian Chess Federation, (RCF), the City Hall of Iasi, have the honor of inviting all national chess federations and eligible players to the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship 2013 to be held in Iasi, Romania, from 21th April (1st round) to 30th April (9th round).

RIGHT OF PARTICIPATION

The participants shall not have a FIDE title or published FIDE rating above 2000 at the start of the tournament or had such a rating for at least two years prior to the start of the event. The World Amateur Women’s Championship shall be held as part of the World Amateur Championship and female contestants will be eligible to win both titles.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

The tournament will be played according to the Swiss System in 9 rounds. National ratings will not be taken into consideration for the pairings. Rate of play will be according to FIDE regulations 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 30 minutes for the rest of the Game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move.

PRIZES

The World Amateur Champion shall be awarded the title of FIDE master and a rating of 2200. The Women’s World Amateur Champion shall be awarded the title of Woman FIDE master and a rating of 2050. In the Open Section the winner of the Silver Medal shall be awarded a rating of 2100 and the Bronze Medal a rating of 2050.

There will also be monetary prizes. In the general section: 1500 EUR, 1200 EUR, 1000 EUR, 700 EUR, 600 EUR, etc. For the women: 500 EUR, 400 EUR, 300 EUR, etc.
