1. Rxb7!
1. a6 N:b6 2. cb ba 3. Nc5 and Black will shortly have to give his R for the b-pawn, leaving White with an easily won ending.
1. a6 ba 2. R:c6+ rescues the R, and leaves White with a difficult pawn-up ending.
To me best move sequence is:
1. a6 N*b6 2. a7 Now black can’t go for N*a4 and the only forced move is 2….Re8 3. N*b6 and black has nothing to do except to lose his rook with the queening pawn. White clearly gains an extra knight advantage that will lead to victory…is that right?
