1. Rxf6!
If
1. … d4
2. Qg3 g6 [can’t see any better]
3. Ne7+ Kh8
4. Re6 Rf7
5. f5 Ra-f8 [doubling rooks]
6. Qe5+ Rg7 [splitting the rooks]
7. Rf6 Rd8 [7. … Rxf6 8. Qb8+ mate in 2]
8. Rf7! winning
oh my dear @all good – u’r fritz worked very well on a line which ended around move two … (the rook on f6 is tabu – nothing more to be said …) :))
congrats – Vohaul
vohaul, you make no sense.
Obviously, 1. … gxf6 and
1. … Rxf6 are no good (see fireonboard’s notes above).
1. … d4 is the only good reply by black, unless you see something better. Look at the position, the white Queen check/fork threat if taking the pawn on d5
Fischer, fritz, or whatever
@all good … please excuse – obviously you are one of those gifted players finding best defenses by a piece down …
1. Rxf6! this rook is tabu so – computers continue with 1. … d4
humans would surrender … (imagine – a piece down!) – the line ends on move two … no mate – but a win to blunder … ^hehe
happy easter – by your “senseless and no sense making” Vohaul ^^
vohaul, excuse me, but you still make no sense.
You are basing your judgement upon your own computer chess prejudices, not upon the obvious chess problem at hand.
You, like anyone else, are entitled to speak for yourself, and voice what you would do in this situation.
I expressed what I would do. I am a human being. You, however, appear to have a computer heritage. As thus, I profoundly sympathize with your struggle.
@all good – after 1.rxf6! the puzzle is over … (damned, isn’t it?)
by the way – i admire your low-browness – and the sudden inspirations u’ve found to bring the black position alive – a knight down – AFTER 1.Rxf6! … very useful!
keep inspired – sincerly – ‘u’r Vohaul
vohaul,
Perhaps I misunderstood you. In which case, I am sorry if I ofended you.
Keep up the good chess fun!
It’s all fun!
