I like
1. … Nh1
followed in almost every case by
2. … Bxf2
except for 2. Qe2 which would be Rxb1+.
AaronK,
Yes, that looks like it wins in all variations.
The tempting 1…Rb5 looks unclear to me after 2. Qe8+ after which white can harrass the black king with impunity, it appears to me.
Yancey
Or maybe not. I should have looked at that more closely.
1. … Nh1
2. Qab8 Bf2+
3. Rf2 and now what?
4…..Qf2
5. Kd1 and the king vamooses to the queenside.
How about Nxf1? I dismissed this originally because it seemed too obvious. 🙂
I think Nf1 wins:
1. … Nf1
2. Qf1 Rb1+
3. Bc1 Qe3+
4. Qe2 Rc1++
1…Nxf1! and now:
2.Qxf1 Rxb1 3.Bc1 Qxe3! 4.Kd1 Rxc1 mate
2.Qaxb8 Qxf2 3.Kd1 Qxd2 mate
2.Qaa5 Bxf2 3.Kxf1 Bg3 4.Kg1 Qf2 5.Kh1 Qh2 mate
Happy Festival of Sacrifice 🙂
Funny position and cool mate.
