Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
A loss at this point in the match is devastating to the young teenage phenom. I don’t think she’ll recover without a day’s rest. Ruan has about 75% chance of winning.
Were IM and GM norms available in this tournament? Dunno what her perf is, but clearly Ruan has put in at least an IM caliber performance.
That’s an easy one:
Ruan Lufei… who else?! 🙂
It’s like picking between a mandarin orange and a clementine orange.
I think Ruan will win because Hou is under tremendous pressure right now. You can tell from game 3 and game 4 that she played impatiently.
This is an exciting final for sure! Ruan Lufei definitely showed unbelievable courage and resilience as a big underdog and after being down 1:2. Also both players are great in fast games. No matter who wins, she will be a well deserved champion.
If Ruan wins, she would be rewarded GM title right way. I think she has better chance to win it.
Hou Yifan will bounce right back and stop Ruan from snatching the title from her grip. Hou is a lot tougher than most people think. She has a steely determination to succeed. After all she did beat Koneru and Zhu Chen. I really wish her well. The ultimate result is a Win Win for chess – Hou wins,it will be the youngest champion ever and if Ruan win its a Cinderella story of a full time PhD student crowning as world champon. Good luck girls!
