Nakamura is guarding his FIDE rating by playing in Super Grandmaster events only…
Abobian has a real shot, but must not lose to Kamsky in round 2. Nakamura is in St. Louis hanging around the chess center, but he wants to protect his rating as any draw or loss here would be costly for him.
Well then if the rating system discourages players from playing in tournaments where a draw or loss is realistic, then it is a flawed rating system.
