Rf1 looks promising, black is paralyzed and can’t handle one more threat.
1.Bf2 seems good. The idea is threaten Bc5. The queen cannot afford QxR cos of impending mate on f7. The King is also immobilised. Black does not have any good moves to play & neither can he prevent Bc5.
Bf2 Ra5 Rxc8 Bf6 Rd1 black is dead. black has no defense.
1.Rhd1 gh4
2.Rxd8+ Qxd8
3.Qc5+ Qe7
4.Rd8 mate
or
1.Rhd1 Bxc3
2.Rxd8+ Qxe8+
3.Rd8
To me R1d1 looks best.
1.R1d1 gxh4
2.Rxe8+ Qxe8
3.Qc5+ Qe7
4.Rd8 mate
or
1.R1d1 Bxc3
2.Rxe8+ Qxe8
3.Rd8
If
1.Bf2 Bg4
2.Bc5 Bxh5
3.Bxe7+ Kxe7
4.Rxa8
but Black can still play the endgame.
White has to care about 1…Bg4
and 1… g5xh4, therefore:
1.Bf2! Bg4
2.Rxe8+ Re8
3.Qxg4
with a decisive attack,
Qf5+, Bc5 and Rhd1 looming…
I think there are more than one solution. all we can say is that black is dead
Rhd1 is not bad. it is just that Bf2 is so much better.
Rhd1 Bg4
if now
Qxe8 Qxe8
Rxe8 Kxe8
and black is in great shape. the white bishop on g4 is still under attack.
so Bg4 returns some material and gives black some breathing room or ability to move. as the problem is presented black is all tied up and Bf2 keeps him tied up.
After Bf2 if black tries Bg4 it does not work.
Bf2 Bg4
Qxe8 Qxe8
Bc5#
mates.
I agree the best answer is Bf2 threathening Bc5 and mate. but Rhd1 should also win.
Bf2 and Black is minced meat!
