It’s nice to see live coverage like this for an event that just starting. I saw Susan graciously signing autographs while Paul took pictures and thought — “why isn’t anybody doing something like this for the US Open!”.
I haven’t seen a single picture or news item on the USCF’s site since the Open began yesterday. For our premium event of the year, I’d have thought there’d be SOMETHING.
There are no pictures, pairings, results, standings, news, announcements… in short, NOTHING other than the pre-tournament information.
I hope that after you take office next weekend, such missed opportunities will be a thing of the past.
The reason why it wasn’t up sooner because we could not check-in until now. The hotel overbooked and many of the players had to stay in another hotel. There will be hundreds of pictures posted in the next week or so.
Yes, many things will change for the better.

tanstaafl’s got it right. Much more minor international tourneys post info about their events on the web. With all the advantages enjoyed (technologically) by American Chess organizers, you would think there would be more postings along these lines! Someone aught to tell the US open organizers.
