Cuban Bruzon Scores Win at Karpov Memorial???
Moscow, Oct 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban GM Lazaro Bruzon scored his first win at the Karpov Memorial Chess tournament on British Nigel Short, to improve his downward performance of three ties and twin loses.
Bruzon, with 2713 ELO, played with the black pieces winning his duel in 57 moves of a Gambito Evans, and second win vs Short (2698) -the first at the Corus in 2005.
This Karpov Memorial has the International Chess Federation 18th category therefore the participants must own an average 2700 ELO.

Crazy!
I believe that in Russian, “imeni” is often used to say “in memory of”, but it literally means “in the name of”, and is hence also used in contexts where a better English translation is “in honour of”.
This is obviously a non-English report translated by somebody not comfortable with English. Nothing wacky here, just inaccurate translation. Try translating a perfectly-written English report into Japanese and you’ll probably make some Japanese readers grin from ear to ear as well.
