Dragon Capital group to sponsor Vietnam chess

Dragon Capital financial group has recently signed a 3-year cooperation agreement with the Vietnam Chess Federation (VCF) to provide it a minimum annual aid of US$40,000.

The company committed to sponsor funds for giving prizes and organizing chess events in Vietnam for three consecutive years from 2007.

In 2007, Dragon Capital transferred VCF $50,000 to prepare for the organization of world youth chess championship in 2008 and give prizes to winners of 2007 national chess championship in Vietnam.

In addition, the other main target of the cooperation is to attract Vietnamese talents to return home to don the national jersey.

International grand master Hoang Thanh Trang, the world’s number 17, is the first target. She chose to play for the Hungarian national team two years ago after Vietnam could not afford fees for her international career.

Trang is now captain of Hungary’s national women’s chess team.
