Peter Doggers, Editor-in-chief of Doggers Schaak, has just sent me the video link for today’s round at Essent Super Tournament (Mamedyarov – Topalov and J. Polgar – I. Sokolov). He also has some nice pictures. Here is the link. Please feel free to check it out! Thank you Peter!
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Thanks for the video.
Mamedyarov seemed to be walking around a lot.
I think anyone playing Topalov will be doing that more and more since he has admitted that it is his achilles heal.
OK, Susan, you know Judit better than anyone (besides her husband and Sofia. 😉 ): She got up from her seat to walk-about around move 4 or 5 of her game with Sokolov. Would you call that “opening tournament jitters” on her part, or is she nervous at the start of every game? (Assuming she was nervous, and that there wasn’t some other reason for getting up so early.)

I also noticed this and was a bit surprised, although it depends for how long she was away from the table.
Susan,
You had given a link to “super arbiter” Geurt Gijssen’s thoughts about how perfectly he managed the situation at Elista. Yasser Seirawan came up with an analysis of Gijssen’s writing :

I think it deserves a post at your main page. Otherwise I’ll be inclined to think that you are posting selectively based on what side you are on.
