Black to play Rbxb2+
Black to play Rbxb2+, if 2.Kxb2 Nxd5!, if white plays 3.Rxd5, then 3…Bxc3+ (just guessing like an amateur player does)
Much credit to Ms. Cmilyte if she found this over the board in a blitz game. It took me many minutes and and several wrong beginnings before I spotted the fork at the end of this line:
1. Nd5! Rd5
2. Rb2 Kb2
3. Bc3 wins two pawns overall.
Nxd5 Rxd5
Rxb2+! Kxd2
Bxc3+ Kd1 (or wherever in fact)
Bxd5
White lost two pawns including a passer, and the bishop pair. Black got this.
1…Nxd5! 2.Rxd5 Rxb2+! 3.Kxb2 Bxc3+ 4.Ka2 Bxe1 with advantage.
1… N:d5
2 R:d5 B:b2
3 K:b2 B:c3
4 — B:e1
The following combination evens things out a little, but I don’t see anything that leads to an imminent mate attack.
1… Nxd5
2. Rxd5 Rxb2+
3. Kxb2 Bxc3+
4. Kb1 Bxe1
Black can win from here by using her rook to attack pawns in white’s back ranks, using her king and bishop to protect her own pawns, and by aggressively promoting her own pawns, eventually forcing a rook exchange for a pawn, but it’s far from an easy win. White can try to do the same, but her more vulnerable king presents difficulties.
I can see a way to win a pawn.
1……… Nxd5!
If
2. Rxd5 Rxb2+!
3. Kxb2 Bxc3+
4. K– Bxe1, black wins another pawn.
1. .. , Nxd5
2. Rxf5, Rxb2+
3. Kxb2, B*c3+
4. K any, Bxe1
wins two pawns.
1 … N:d5
2 R:d5 R:b2
3 K:b2 B:c3+
and 4 … B:e1
wins two pawns.
To try something “wild”:
1. Nxd5 Rxd5 (seems enforced)
2. Rxb2+ Kxb2
3. Bxc3+ …
4. Bxe1
With the net gain of 2 pawns, seems winning.
2. … Kd1
3. Bxc3
gives the same gain of 2 pawns.
One possible line is:
1. Nxd5 Rxd5
2. Rxb2+ Kd1 (Kc1 Bxc3)
3. Rxc3! Rxe7?
4. Ra3!
