Cuban Grand Master Leinier Domínguez (ELO 2721) beat Russian GM Boris Savchenko (2655) in 72 moves to remain undefeated and atop the leader board of the Elite group with 3 points at the Capablanca Memorial Chess tournament ongoing in Havana

Cuban Grand Master Leinier Domínguez (ELO 2721) beat Russian GM Boris Savchenko (2655) in 72 moves to remain undefeated and atop the leader board of the Elite group with 3 points at the Capablanca Memorial Chess tournament ongoing in Havana.

German GM Geor Meier (2641) is in second with 2.5 points, followed by Savchenko (2655) and German GM Igor Khenkin (2630); Cuban GM Lázaro Bruzón (2617) sits in fourth with 1 point, and finally Russian GM Artyom Timofeev (2667) sits in last with 1.

On Friday, Leinier will play black against Meier in the most anticipated game of the fifth round. The other games are Timofeev-Bruzón and Savchenko-Khenkin.
Premier Group

GM Neuris Delgado (2572) sits atop the Premier category with 3 points, followed by Russian GM Vladimir Potkin (2621) with 2.5, Peruvian GM Emilio Córdova (2543) and Cuban GM Yuniesky Quesada (2596) both with 2 points, and in last place Cuban GM Holden Hernández (2573) and Cuban GM Fidel Corrales (2574).

Friday’s matches are: Yuniesky-Neuris, Potkin-Holden and Córdova-Fidelito.

Finally in the Open category there are six players in first place with 3.5 points:Cubans Lelys Martínez (2520), Héctor Delgado (2398), Carlos Hevia (2332), Yuri González (2501) and Isam Ortiz (2493); and Dane Karsten Rasmussen (2447).
