Good for Topalov! Kramnik is still #3.
mamedyarov at #4 is amazing- he still doesn’t get as much attention as he deserves
and judit?
I expect Judit to return to the top ten in 2007. Please tell her not to disappoint me. 🙂
i wonder who will be the next player to climb into (or back into) 2800?
morozevich has had a really good year and i like to see a player like that in the top 10- it’s amazing that a player like leko is rated higher although he rarely plays and when he does he draws- what a boring player
How many times I saw comments like “Leko – what a boring player” and I don’t understand these people…
Guys, each player has his style and personality.
Each one from top 20 is different but I think all of them deserve our respect for being there.
And comments like the previuos one makes no sense to me.
Anand will soon be back where he belongs, as the number 1 active player in the world.
well 1st let me explain my comment: i said he is a boring player, not a bad player- my point is that his desire to always draw his games is not good for chess and leads to very boring games- take a look at his games and then look at a player like morozevich’s games
And Kathy Lahno earned some well deserved points from her match with Negi.
Some other girls progressed too ,althought I really don’t understand how a 13 year old Chinese girl suddently rised over 2500 ELO mark..
Hmm,something’s fishy there.

Do you ever watch or replay games, or just read news and forums?
Did you analyse any of the games from Tal Memorial?
Do you realy know something about Leko?

Can you please name us a single super tournament that Morozevich won ?
Morozevich is a tiger against weaker opponents, but when he plays against players of his calibre, it is a different story.
Morozevich is of course a tactical chess genius. But it is not enough. With all due respect ot Tal et al, tactical players burn out fast.

yes i do replay and study games all the time- but i usually stay away from leko games because they are generally all draws- at tal memorial, he didn’t play exciting chess- for instance, he was better against carlsen and chose a safe draw instead of going for the win

Moro may not win super trnmts but he plays exciting chess- why can’t you seem to understand my point-i’m talking about chess styles- a player like moro is exciting to watch and leko is boring – period- maybe all of you should start watching leko’s games closely if you can stay awake

++++++++
But, try to find and reply his games against Grischuk, Gelfand and beautiful game against Aronian, where he set an amazing tactical trap. At the Tal tournament he showed more than anybody else.
Also, some of his games from Brissago are really nice, for example games 8 and 13.
For his opponents, Leko is allways good indicator how they play, because he is able to exploit even smallest mistakes. I like him for that.
hope judit will return in 2007 with avengence goodluck judit
Interesting that the top only have a few points between them.
Topalov either needs a make-over or a new PR man. This is a terrible picture.
You should add a pic of Judit so Topalov won’t be the only #1 with a picture. We don’t want gender discrimination after all these years! 🙂
i have seen some nice leko games but overall his style is very boring- moro’s games on the whole are much more exciting- whichever style u prefer is obviously ur preference- but i think most fans want to see players like moro, instead of drawmasters like leki
Last game of Moro: Q vs R was really exciting 😉
