Veselin Topalov has arrived in Sofia for Mtel Masters 2008
Topalov speaks about Mtel Masters and his match with Kamsky
The 3 times winner of Mtel Masters (all photos here), Veselin Topalov, has arrived in Sofia this afternoon. Topalov arrived at the VIP and shared his expectation with Chessdom and several local journalists.
“I am in very good mood before the Mtel Masters 2008,” said Topalov. “I expect Aronian and Ivanchuk to be the most dangerous opponents. Aronian has proven many times to be the player advancing the fastest at top level. Ivanchuk can always surprise as well. I suppose Cheparinov and Radjabov will come tired from Baku.”
Veselin Topalov continued, “Mtel Masters 2008 is more important than last years because it is a part of the Grand Slam. A victory here will be more important than before.”
Topalov could not escape questions about his match with Kamsky. He confirmed that if there is a real offer from Ukraine, it would be a pleasure for him to play there. However, he noted, “I do not think there are official guarantees from Ukranian side”.
Asked about the other semi final match Kramnik – Anand, Topalov said, “For now this match does not concern me. I look forward to the match with Kamsky, where there is no official host announced.”
There are plenty of good reports at http://www.chessdom.com/.
“Semi-Final” Kramnik Anand?
No, that is not right. Here is a real worldchampionship, and the champion is Visvanatan Anand.
okay
“Asked about the other semi final match Kramnik – Anand”
what the @$#$% is this ? is chessdom owned by Danailov ? its not a ‘semi final’ match, its a world championship match; and the winner will be the world champion. I guess this is the problem with FIDE’s weird
world championship cycle; people get a chance to misinterpret and misrepresent it
Topa wants the crown. With the help of a rabbits foot, Anna’s lip balm, morse-coded farts from Danialov, and Russian assasins, Topa is guaranteed to win.
Yup.
“Here is a real worldchampionship, and the champion is Visvanatan Anand.”
Yep, that is until Kramnik kick crushes him in October.
This is not the first time they write about Anand-Kramnik as a semi-final match.
They have been doing it all the time.
It is not a lapsus ; it’s a deliberate lie, a wish if you want.
Chessdom is a constant source of heavily biased information.
For ex.,during the Short-Cheparinov incident, they presented Cheparinov as a victim.
They’re Danailov’s mouthpiece, you have to be blind not to see it.
It’s time the owner of this “information blog” realizes this and stops posting Chessdom articles without any critical comment.
Chessvibes, Chessbase and europe-echecs (french) are much trustworthy and impartial.
Steven
In reality, of course, these matches are effectively semi-finals, just not in name.
In fact so used to thinking about them like this have I already become that I read past this without even noticing.
This situation is due to the malevolence of FIDE, Kramnik and Topalov. Neither Kramnik nor Topalov have any right to a match.
And some people wonder why Anand recently said that he “is not on good terms with Kramnik”?? Get real.
Both matches are illegitimate, as should FIDE be for this and many other misdemeanours.
Some posters have suggested that the USCF should be dumped as an official body of chess and a new one set up in its stead. In the case of FIDE, this is even more necessary.
Steven,
you are fairly biased as well, not to use a stronger adjective. The chessbase site and Friedel, in particular, are very close to Kramnik and his manager, so they have been serving one-sided favoritism in favor of Kramnik for a long time.
“The chessbase site and Friedel, in particular, are very close to Kramnik…”
The chessbase site is quite objective IMO.
Kramnik has lived in Berlin and played many years in the German Chess-League and during that time will have made a lot of friends there of course. There is nothing wrong about that…
If Topalov today has a bad reputation world-wide it is not due to Chassbase or other sites but simply because he behaved disgustingly after trailing 2 games in his match against Kramnik in 2006. His “Toiletgate” accusations were completely faked (analysing his first two losses will tell everybody that there were definitely NO computer engines involved in the series of blunders that happened there) and the whole affair had just one single aim: to set Kramnik off-balance.
This was definitely the utmost un-sportmanship behaviour in a world chess championship match ever! (Fischer in 1972 wasn’t directly fighting against Spassky, although his constant demands may have influenced Spassky somehow nevertheless)
BTW, I recommend Topalovs own book on the match. That is a real eye-opener, although different from what the authors intended…
