After The « Match des Légendes » between Boris Spassky and Anatoly Karpov, after The « Match des Espoirs » between Teimur Radjabov and Magnus Carlsen here we are again in Porto-Vecchio, Corsica This time, it’s a confrontation between Etienne Bacrot and Vladislav Tkachiev in The « Match des Champions ».
Étienne Bacrot (born in 1983).
He became a Grandmaster in March 1997 at the age of 14 years and 2 months. He won five time( !) the French Chess Championship.
He’s the french n°1 and belongs to the very closed club of the Super Grand Masters with an Elo rating of over 2700. With his universal style, he is able to play all kind of positions.
Vladislav Tkachiev (born in 1973) is a French- Russian-Kazakhstani chess player.
Great attacking style, specialist in rapid games, he is called ” Mr. blitz”. He won the 2006 French Chess Championship. In 2007, he won the European Chess Championship, held in Dresden. The field was exceptionally strong with more than 50 competitors having an elo rating of 2600 or more. In 2007, he also won the European blitz Chess Championship in Aiaccio.
The rate of play was 15 mins + 3 secs increment per move. This two-games match took place on
May 22th 2008 and ended in a severe 2-0 victory for Vlad.
