Qf7 looks like the killer move
I guess 1. Qf7! wins easily
Qf7 looks winning.
Qf7 looks good to me.
1. Qf7 Rf7
2. Re8 followed by mate in two more moves
1. Qf7 Qe7
2. Re7 Rf7
3. Re8 followed by mate in one, or
2. ….Re7
3. Qf8#, and, of course, if
1. ….Re7
2. Qf8#
Also, if
1. Qf7 Rg8
2. Qe8 wins a rook
I would play qf7 – in a blitz game –
Qf7. Straightforward but still beautiful!
I think everyone agrees that we prefer to see only US wins over other countries, not random ones from ‘chess today’, to which I am subsrcribed to anyway.
For example:
[Event “TCh-BEL 2008-9”]
[Site “Belgium BEL”]
[Date “2009.01.04”]
[Round “6”]
[White “Tonoli, B.”]
[Black “Zatonskih, A.”]
[Result “0-1”]
[ECO “B12”]
[WhiteElo “2183”]
[BlackElo “2440”]
[PlyCount “20”]
[EventDate “2008.10.05”]
[EventType “team”]
[EventRounds “11”]
[EventCountry “BEL”]
[SourceDate “2009.06.08”]
1. e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 c5 4. dxc5 Nc6 5. Bb5 e6 6. Be3 Bd7 7. Bxc6 Bxc6 8. c3 d4 9. cxd4 Bxg2 10. f3 Bxh1 0-1
Yeah!!!
Anon @ 11:54 – what is the point of your post?! It is totally unrelated to the quiz and the win is trivial due to white’s blunder in the opening. Maybe I should reconsider posting my cooking recipes here as well…
‘what is the point of your post?!’
We should be learning only from US masterpieces, not to play and combine like Europeans or Asians. We are at least as good as they are.
The point of learning chess is to join the national team (unless you are like traitorous Magnus). The point of joining the national team is to thrash all the other countries.
‘what is the point of your post?!’
You stupid? The guy said he already paid to see these, and now everyone gets to see them for free?!
Unrated Copeland, Daniel USA scores 9/10!!!!!

“Maybe I should reconsider posting my cooking recipes here as well…”
Yes, do that please. Maybe there are cake recipes for cakes that are as fine as Qf7! is here.
Best wishes
a European that starts to feel unworthy of being able to watch brilliant games played by big USAn players like that brilliant ano
(Perhaps I should get back to games by the non-US losers as Topalov, Carlsen, Anand…)
Saw it instantly because I remembered position #83 in Win at Chess on paeg 29 (http://books.google.se/books?id=sNP8-dt9n) kEC&pg=PP1&dq=win+at+chess&lr=by Fred Reinfeld. The position was taken from the game Janowski-Burn 1907 (http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1036044).
Perhaps I should get back to games by the non-US losers as Topalov, Carlsen, Anand…)
Don’t do that!!!
Morphy, Reshevsky, Fischer, Caruana, Robson, Finegold, Zatonskih!!
Study these only and you will be grandmaster soon enough!!
‘Maybe there are cake recipes for cakes that are as fine as Qf7! is here.’
There are many more beautiful Qf7!!s played by Americans!
We need foreigners in chess only to be able to make US IM & GM norms. Otherwise, no need at all!
When I see a non-US diagram, I turn my eyes away.
Here’s an interesting find. After which you will all need to adapt your answers to puzzles.
Yeah, I also feel humbled by a US player trashing a 2183 giant. Way to go! Wait a minute – I thought the chess slogan was “Gens una sumus”. Ah, forget about it, to hell with the other nations. 😉
I like Qf7. Reminds me of the famous Reschevsky move Qg3!
