How about Qb3?
1. Qb3+ Qe6
2. Re1
1. Qb3 Qe6
2. Re1 Ra1
3. Qxe6 Rxe6
4. Rxa1
Doesn’t white also win easily with…
1.Qb3 Qe6
2.Qg3 g6
3.Qc7
Good old standard trick with Re1! hidden in a nice variation.
Not too hard (if I haven’t overseen anything what, of course, can happen quickly!).
The solution is posted above so only two comments to the posts:
William, Ra1 looks like a tricky defense but instead of Qxe6 the direct Rxa1 is possible, too.
This maneuver has just any sense if the white queen wasn’t protected.

Nice idea but black does not have to move g6?. She (by the way, is it correct to say “she” if the gender of something isn’t specified? Or do I say “He” here like I did before? Please help me and my english!) can “simply” play Re7.
Greetings
Jochen
Jochen,
the Oxford Guide to English usage says;
“… English has no singular pronoun to denote common gender.
The grammarian’s recommendation, during the past two centuries, has been that he (him, himself, his) should be used. …”.
So “he”, not “she” (unless you happen to know the player of the black pieces was a lady).
Common usage also has “they” , e.g. “They can play Re7”, but this sounds awkward, and is considered less correct.
In chess one can use “white” and “black” instead. e.g. Black can simply play Re7.
Which has the added advantage of reminding us wood-pushers, whose turn it is to move!
Thanks, Simon.
I (perhaps wrongly?) remembered many ‘things’ (like countries etc.) being called ‘she’ in the english language – that’s why I wondered here.
In Germany almost everything and everybody has a gender [we have three different articles where you only use “the”: we have “der” (male) / “die” (female) / das” (neuter)] – this must sound funny to you but for me this makes it hard to understand about the gender thing in your language.
“In chess one can use “white” and “black” instead. e.g. Black can simply play Re7.”
Yeah, of course that is possible but it is not a god style writing “Black does this. Now black can… Black…”
Better style is writing black once and use a pronome (*) in the following sentences.
(*) Thanks to you I can use the right pronome “he” here without wondering if it’s wrong.
Thanks, again, and sorry to all for off-topic!
Best regards
Jochen
