Paul has done great pool and gambling movies. Do you think you could get him to do a chess movie, Susan? Awesome photo!
Remember Paul Newman in the role of the billiards player? He is so good that his competitors get some mafiosi break his thumbs. Jelousy among indoor players, for sure. Shall ever professional chess players descend down such a level of jelousy?
Now that would be a cool movie.
Paul Newman as a world Chess Champion player. with all the emotional baggage of the negotiations and the big prize fund. he would love it. it could be just like the hustler or the color of money but it can be called THE SANDBAGGER. the movie can have him setting up people for the big money games. then he tries to set up the World Champion in a big money match. but Paul Newman is not sure he has not gone a little too high. but he plays the confidence to the public and the opponent and after an emotional game after game in the tournament it finally comes down to ……..
well I am not a screen writer I am sure they could make this exciting. it just might put chess on the map again.
Maybe he goes up to Iceland and gets Bobby Fischer into a return match for $25,000,000. winner takes all. Bobby Fischers old rules for the 1975 match. first to win 10 games no draws count. but no tie on 9-9. movies want a winner.
do you think Paul Newman could handle the pressure.
Tommy
