Letter from the Prime Minister of Bulgaria and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Mr. Boyko Borissov, which was presented to the Executive Board of FIDE at the Congress in Halkidiki, Greece.
Sofia, 12 October 2009
Dear Mr. President, dear delegates,
Unfortunately, attributable to the technical reasons, we cannot present the bank guarantee for the organization of WCC match Topalov-Anand in April 2010.
However, I kindly request that this letter be treated as an official guarantee for our presentation for the bid. In case that our bid is approved, I personally guarantee the budget of three million euro for the match and we will be ready to transfer the money and to sign the contract with FIDE in two months from now, not later than 10 December of this year.
Thank you very much for your understanding.
Best regards,
BOYKO BORISSOV
Chairman Organizing Committee

And tell me if you think that his letter is worth more than the paper it is written on.
Bulgarians are best. They’re honest people.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again….Those poor Bulgarian taxpayers.
Don’t worry for poor bulgarian taxpayers, Eric. We all love chess, love Veselin Topalov and we know that Vesko is the best chessplayer right now and last years. So 3 milions euro are nothing to pay for us. I’m sure that Veseli will winn WCC match with difference of 2 points at least.
Best regards!
nothing about neutrality in the letter
That letter is only good for wiping whatever you wish to wipe.
The letter is only from the Chairman of the Organising Committee.
The source of funding may still recuse.
something is not right here. Why does Topalov get to play in Sofia? He played Kamsky in Sofia too.The Bulgars can easily arrange to play tricks ( electronic/non electronic).
