Azerbaijani mass media again spreads misinformation. This time it concerns the matches for the Chess World Cup candidates’ champion. The FIDE congress approved proposal of Azerbaijani side to hold a tournament in Azerbaijan, however Armenian Grandmaster Levon Aronian refused to go to Baku despite the organizers’ security guarantee.

Under the tournament, only 4 participants out of 8 will play in Baku, whereas the rest will take part in the tournament in another country. It goes without saying, that Aronian will be one of those participating in Baku. Thus, his visit to Azerbaijan is not on the agenda.
