The first game of these matches will begin today at 3:00 PM (time of the playing site). The players had to pick white and black sheep to determine the colors of the first game in the last round. I am curious as to how they picked the colors this time, Gata’s camel? 🙂
Aronian – Shirov
Leko – Bareev
Rublevsky – Grischuk
Gelfand – Kamsky
Who will win game 1?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Aronian – Shirov 1-0
Leko – Bareev 1/2
Rublevsky – Grischuk 1/2
Gelfand – Kamsky 1/2
hard to say but ill give my analysis. leko aronian grischuk and kamsky would be my picks. leko weakness could be long drawn out end games. aronian would be over commiting sometimes and getting countered attacked. grischuk just doesnt have experience so well see how the nerves hold on. his openings could also be suspect. kamsky just needs to keep playing aggressive. having a sound strategy. sometimes kamsky might not have a clear strategy as to what hes trying to accomplish. shirov seems to be more disciplined so he could be a serious threat.anybody can beat any player. my favorite player right now is grischuk. i think he is the most talented player. he reminds me of fischer in some ways. just a matter of playing there best and rising to the occasion. its gut check time. there all talented players.
Matchwise, Aronian, Leko, Grischuk and Kamsky
Match winner guess:
Shirov, Leko, Grishuk, Gelfand
I know…lots of surprises! 🙂
Shirov will win today and advance by a narrow margin
Leko will advance after tie breaks
Grishuk will advance 3.5-1.5
Gelfand-Kamsky will have the winner advance by the clearest margin, 3.5-0.5 in favor of Gelfand
