Membership | in the U.S. Chess Federation is required of all players. You may join with your entry or on site. Players will not be allowed to complete the tournament without a valid membership. |

Atulya Shetty, a seventh grader, jointly won the Great Lakes Open Championship in Michigan together with NM Seth Homa, on April 26, 2009.
Surely calling this ‘The Chess Event of the YEar’ is over-egging it somewhat.
What about Corus, Nalchik, Kamsky-Topalov, … and all the Super-GM events to come.
