Qb1 mate
Easy draw ? Nuts ?
We are going to give checkmate:
1. Qc5+ Ka5
2. Qb4+ Kb6
3. Qd4+ ! (very mean) Ka5
4. Bb4+ Ka4
5. Be1+ Kb3
6. Qb4+ Kc2
7. Qb1 checkmate
Looks like white has a mate in 8:
1. Qc5+ Ka5 2. Qb4+ Kb6 3. Qd4+ Ka5 (3. … Kc6 4. Qd6#, 3. … Kc7 4. Qd6+ Kc8 5. Qd8#) 4. Bb4+ Ka4 5. Bd1+ Kb3 (5. … Ka3 6. Qb4#) 6. Qb4+ Kc2 7. Qd2+ Kb3 8. Qa2#
I would also take the draw with Qc5 and Qb5, however, that hardly qualifies as “art” so there must be a win for white somewhere. The thing is: I do not see it either…
Beelze
Great Puzzle.
Not a draw. White mates in 7
Very nice combination. Very good for memory work.
(1 Qc5 Ka5 2 Qb4 Kb6 3 Qd4 Ka5 4 Bb4 Ka4 5 Be1 Kb3 6 Qb4 Kc2 7 Qb1# seems faster)
