The first games of the TCEC Season 6 – Superfinal have been played and the open source chess fans are celebrating. Stockfish, which clearly dominated Season 6 so far winning Stage 2, Stage 3, and Stage 4, took a commanding lead at the TCEC Superfinal against the defending champion Komodo. Stockfish won games 1, 8, and 9 to take full 3 points advantage collecting 7,5/12.
Stockfish upgraded its modification from Stockfish 300414 in Stage 4 to Stockfish 170514 in the Superfinal, allegedly adding 15 ELO points from the change. The defending champion uses Komodo 7x, which took the place of Komodo 1223, which already had some success against Stockfish.
A total of 64 games will be played to determine the Grand Champion of this season. The big question: will Komodo be able to come back in the match and defend the title?
