I’m still searching!
This is what I found so far…
1. Rg4+!
1. … Qxg4 2. Qxf7+ followed by 3. Qxh7#
1. … Kh8 2. Qxf6+ Rg7 3. Qxg7#
1. … Kh6 2. Rh4 winning
A classic deflection manouvre.
1 …Kh6
2 Qxf6+ Rg6
3 Qxf7 followed by Rh4
That is 3… Rh8 then Rh4
1.Rg4 Kh6 [1…Kh8 (Qg4 2.Qf7+Kh8 or Kh6 Qh7#) 2.Qf6+ Rg7 Qg7#] 2.Qf6+ Rg6 [2…Qg6 3.Rh4#]3.Qf4+ Rg5 [3…Qg5 4.Rh4+ Kg7 5.Qf7+ Kh8 6.Q or Rh7#]4.Rh4 Qh4 [4…Kg6 5.Qf7+Kh6 6.Qh7#] Qh4+ Rh5 [5…Kg6 6.Qg5#] 6.Qf6#
After
1.Rg4+ Kh6
2.Qxf6+ Rg6
3.Qf4+ ?! …
the black king escapes on g7
3. … Kg7
and there will be a long way to mate
better – and faster is
3.Qxf7 Rh8 (forced)
4.and now NOT Rh4?!
but 4.Rxg6+ Qxg6 (… hxg 5. Qg7#)
5.Qf4+ Qg5 / Kh5
6.Qxg5# / Qh4#
a nice puzzle, but an easier one (by my opinion), because white will win in almost any variation.
greets, Vohaul
