How can BC4 not be correct??

and you also win.
By the way,

doesn’t win: the King gets to the pawn in time.
Bc4 is nothing due to 2.Kd2
The right way is the typcal 1…b4
I’m thinking p-n5, which I think should at least draw.

very tricky! 1.. b4 wins the day. if white takes axb4, then b2 wins and Rook can’t get there in time. If white doesnt take, then bxa3 sets up two passed pawns!
