1.Ne6 fe6
2.Qa4 Ke7
3.Qh4 Ke8
4.Qh5 g6
5.Qc5 and White is dominating,
e.g. 5… Rd8 6.Qe5
yes! with Nxe6 white wins back the pawns with a great attack.
1. Nxe6 fxe6
2. Qxa4+ Ke7
3. Rf7+ Kxf7
4. Rd7+
winning a queen and eventually checkmating the king (with the queen and rook)
yuly, your line is erronious, have a closer look
wei ji, your line is good up till ..Rd8?? when white wins quickly with RxR and queen check picking off other Rook.
1. Nxe6 fxe6
2. Qxa4 Ke7
3. Qh4 Ke8
4. Qh5 g6
5. Qxc5
Proposed originally
1. Nxe6 fxe6
2. Qxa4+ Ke7
3. Rf7+ Kxf7
4. Rd7+
was over-optimistic (I did not notice that two rooks + knight were sacrificed for just one queen).
Here is the correct sequence
1. Nxe6 fxe6
2. Qxa4+ Ke7
3. Qh4+ Ke8
4. Qh5+ g6
5. Qe5!
this quiet move attacks e6, Rh8 and keeps attacking the bishop on e7.
I find 5. Qe5 even stronger than immediate 5. Qxc5
I completely agree with Yuly on his(her?) last line
1. Nxe6 fxe6
2. Qxa4+ Ke7
3. Qh4+ Ke8
4. Qh5+ g6
5. Qe5! (and not 5.Qc5; althought it’s winning too)
in this position white loses a rook no matter what
if
5….Rg8
6.Qxe6+ Be7 (6…Qe7 7.Qxg8 Qxf8 8.RxQ+ and mates soon)
7.Qxg8+ leads to mate
If
5….Rf8
6.RxR+ Bf8 (6….KxR 7.Qh8+ ke7 (or kf7) 8.Qxh7 and black qqueen is a goner.)
7.Qxe6 Be7 (7….Qe7. 8.Qc6+ and black a8 rook is gone)
8.Qg8+ Bf8
9.Re1+ Kd7
10.Qf7 kc6
11.Re6+ and black loses his queen.
or….
1. Nb5 threatening fork K&Q
…QxN
2. Qxf7 checkmate
