Mate in 3.
1. Qe3+, Kc4
2. Qd3+, Kc5
3. Rb5#
1. ………, Kd5
2. Rb5+, Kc4
3. Qd3#
Qe3 check
King moves to D5 or C4. If C4 then Qe6
Black is Queen down
If D5, then Rb5 Check
White could Mate or win a Rook at the least
1.Qe3+!
A>1….Kc4.2.Qd3+.Kc5.3.Rb5#!
B>1…Kd5.2.Rb5+.
B1>>2…Kc4.3.Qd3#!
B2>>2…Rc5.3.Qe4#!
1.Qe3+ Kd5
(1…. Kc4 2.Qd3+ Kc5 3.Rb5#)
2.Rb5+ Rc5
(2…. Kc4 3.Qd3#)
3.Qe4#

2. Qd3+ Kc5
3. Rb5#

Qe3 Check
Qe3 Check
Queen to e3
Qe3 check Kd5, Rb5 check..
Qe3+ draws by perpetual check.
Looks like a mate in 3 to me:
1. Qe3 Kd5 (Kc4 2.Qd3 Kc5 3.Rb5#)
2. Rb5 Kc4 (Rc5 3.Qe4#)
3. Qd3#
Qe3+
1. Qe3+ Kc4
2. Qd3+ Kc5
3. Rb5#
1. Qe3+ Kc4
2. Qd3+ Kc5
3. Rb5#
Qe3+
Because of black’s pawn majority, this is lost for white after RxR.
To take mate in 3 moves and 3 variations looks clearly better.
1. Qe3+
A)
1. … Kc4
2. Qd3+ (Qe6+?? d5) Kc5
3. Rb5#
BI)
1. … Kd5
2. Rb5+ Kc4
3. Qd3#
BII)
2. … Rc5
3. Qe4#
It seems that black in his last move took a fatal desicion with RxRh1. It’s difficult to understand how this happened.
Qd5+ first must have been so much better.
Probably just thinking “if I take a rook then my opponent must take back”, and thus ignoring the importance of doing good moves in the best sequence.
1. Qe3+ Kd5 (1. … Kc4 2. Qd3+ Kc5 3. Rb5#) 2. Rb5+ Rc5 (2. … Kc4 3. Qd3#) 3. Qe4#
1. Qe3+ (if Kc4) then to be followed by Qe6+ (threatening the Queen) then if Qe6+ was answered by d5, then QxR+…black will answer by moving his King to D4, and a mate is inevitable by next move Qc3++
Now…if 1. Qe3 check is answered by KD5, then a force mate follows by 2. Rb5+ (to be answered by Rc5), then Qe4++

2. Rb5+..Rc5 (2.Rb5+..Kc4 3.Qd3#mate)
3. Qe4# mate
glad to see it on 12 secs.. king position is zugzwang..
1. Qe3+..Kd5
(1.Qe3+..Kc4 2.Qd3+..Kc5 3.Rb5#mate)
2. Rb5+..Rc5 (2.Rb5+..Kc4 3.Qd3#mate)

1. Qe3+Kd5 (… Kc4 2. Qd3+ Kc5 3. Rb5#) 2. Rb5+ Rc5 ( … Kc4 3. Qd3# ) 3. Qe4#
To Atul Borkar:
If king moves to c4, then Qe6?? does not work!
Black has a better answer than moving his king, and he will keep his queen and win the game.
