Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
When’s the last time a super-GM round robin had a round wherein Black won every game? It must have happened before, but when?
And poor Wang Yue looked peaked all through the event. I wonder if he was ill.
Very Smooth game by Carlsen. Compare this to Smeets Spineless last round in the Dutch Championship when he took a draw in 3!!!!! moves … and you see clearly why there are different levels of grandmasters.
I think Magnus is well…..the guy to beat. Smeets?! bleh..doesn’t matter…he should maybe write book for people who don’t play chess. Like the ole Reinfeld dude.
That’s the eyecatch people. Anand Topalov, kramnik would never have the “nerve” to win so consistently tournament after tounament…This kid is maturing freaking fast…..And I bet when he wins the WCC..(if if bothers) He won’t play a punching bag like Leko. This kid is the real deal.

I hate to say it…but I think Magnus is finished soon with chess.Time to go to other things…I really think he’s realizing he has nothing else to prove…and at 19!!!! he can do anything. It’s a great time for him to step out…bow and say thanks…and move on. He’s way too talented an individual to stay in the ugly chess world. h’es proven himself…and well..perhaps he can now do what he[s really good at.
Good Luck Magnus

Carlsen is a very good player. But let us not jump the gun. He has to prvoe himself in the long run like Kasprov, Karpov, Anand and the like. Also he is yet to play a championship one to one. He may prove to be as good as Kasprove at the end but don’t give him the crown yet. Let him show he deserves it by playing in a WCC match.
Fortunately, I think Carlsen loves chess and will want to stay. Winning is addictive. Besides, being great at chess doesn’t mean he will be great at something else. Why would he want to leave? The only question is – will we see the first 2900 player in the not too distant future?
