This is really a great one – took me many minutes to find it.
First I wanted to win with 1. Kb3 which really wins after all black moves but 1. -, Bxc5.
So finally I found 1. c6! This move which looks like “the best chance to draw the game” WINS. 1. -, Bd6/Kb6 are impossible because of knight forks so black must play bxc6.
NOW 2. Kb3 is the move with the threat of 3. a4, Kb6 (forced – else 4. Nc4#) 4. Nd7+.
Only defense is moving away the bishop (2. -, Kb6 still gives white 3. Nd7+).
2. -, Be7/d6/b4 3. Nxc6+/c4+/c6+ 4. NxB.
2. -, Ba3 3. Kxa3
2. -, Bc5 3. Nc4+, Kb3 4. a4#
I saw this mating position almost immediately and suddenly I saw, how to “force it”.
Really a nice one! Thanks, Susan, I had fun solving it!
