Rxf8+ Kxf8
Ra8+ Kg7
Nf6 and Black has no way to prevent mate.
Rxf8 Kxf8
Ra8+ Kg7
Nf6 Rd2+
Kh3 Rd8
Rxd8 h5
Rg8++
another quick solution
1. R:f8+ Kg7 2. Rg8+ K:g8 3. Ra8+ Kg7 4. Nf6 and Rg8 will be mate.
Or 1> r:f8+ K:f8 2. Ra8+ Kg7 3. Nf6 leads to the same result.
1. Rxf8+ Kxf8, 2. Ra8+ Kg7, 3. Nf6 and black can’t avoid Rg7#
1.Rxf8+ Kxf8
2.Ra8+ Kg7
3.Nf6 …
4.Rg8#
1.Rxf8+ Kxf8
2.Ra8+ Kg7
3.Nf6 Rd2+
4.Kg3 Followed by Rg8++
Dear Susan and all chessfans all over the world,
please excuse me that I am posting here, but I don’t find another way to remember all of you, that Mainz chess classic has been cancelled this year. Please try to react in any way!
It is not enough to post the informations by the chairman of the chesstigers in this blog and then live on as if nothing has happened. This is a disaster, and there must be protest and good ideas for the future!
Share this with me, I beg you.
okay from germany
this is so darn easy. Even the fish will get it.
1.Rxf8+ Kxf8 2.Ra8+ Kg7 3.Nf6 and mates on g8.
The correct move would be;
1. Rxf8+ Kxf8
2. Ra8+ Kg7
3. Nf6!
There is now way white could stop the mate at Rg8.
1. Rxf8+ Kxf8
2. Ra8+ Kg7
3. Nf6
and black can only give some checks and give up up the rook on d8 before
Rg8#
Rxf8?
This looks pretty obvious:
1. Rxf8 Kxf8 (Kg7 Nf6 is one move shorter)
2. Ra8+ Kg7
3. Nf6
and Rg8# is not to be guarded.
including all possible counter attempts by black this is what i suggest:
1. Rxf8+ Kg7
2. Rg8+ Kxg8
3. Ra8+ Kg7
4. Nf6 Rd2+
5. Kh3 Rd8
6. Rxd8 h5
7. Rg8#
greets, jan
Rxf8+ Kxf8 (or Kg7 Raa8 and 1-0)
Ra8+ Kg7
Nf6 Rd2+
Kg3 Rd8
Rxd8 1-0
1Rxf8+ Kxf8
2 Ra8+ Kg7
3 Nf6 and wins
1. Rf8x, Kf8x 2. Ra8+, Kg7 3. Nf6 threatening Rg8#
A correction to my first answer.
Main line is clear:
1. Rxf8 Kxf8
2. Ra8+ Kg7
3. Nf6
But so we have the line:
1. Rxf8 Kg7 (blacks best attempt)
and I foolishly said “2. Nf6 is one move faster”.
This has to be wrong because of
2. Nf6? Kxf8 king escapes.
Correct is:
1. Rxf8 Kg7
2. Rg8+! Kxg8
3. Ra8+ Kg7
4. Nf6
Necessary to see the rook sack in 2nd move here.
What pht said is bit inaccurate.
1 Rxf8+ Kg7
2 Nf6 fails as it is difficult to keep black king off e7 after 2… Kxf8
what annonymous said is right.
after 1Rxf8+ kg7
2 Rg8+ is a must and it actually is slower by one move.
RXf8+ Kxf8
Ra8+ Kg7
Nf6 and mate soon.Rg8
Quorthon.
ah… chess101 stuff… pls mo interesting problems next. tanx!
