Fairly straightforward:

1. Rg4 Rg6

Here, Kh6 also loses: [1. …Kh6 2.Qf4 Kh5 3.Rf5 with mate on the next move]. Continuing:

2. h6

The hardest move to spot. Indeed, I spent a few minutes with 2.Rg6, but that loses: [2.Rg6?? hg6 3.h6 Kh7! (not 3. …Kh6?? 4.Qh3! with mate on one of the next two moves) and white is out of useful checks, and black is going to be playing Rb1]. Continuing:

2. …..Kh6
3. Rg6! hg6

And we saw the rest in the note above:

4. Qh3 Kg7 (Kg5 5.Qh4#)
5. Qh8#

Technically, this is a mate in 6 if black sacrifices the queen at h4 at move 4.

Nice! Since 1. Rg4+ Kh6 2. Qf4+ Kxh5 (2. … Qg5 3. Qxg5) 3. Rf5+ Qg5 4. Qxg5 is mate, Black must instead try 1. .. Rg6. Then White mates with 2. h6+! Kxg6 3. Rxg6+ hxg6 4. Qh3+ with mate in 2. It is important not to mix up the move order. If 2. Rxg6+? then after 2. … hxg6 3. h6+ Kh7! Black wins.

With the imminent mate thereat from black white either has to find a mate or go for perpetual. Let’s see what he has
