A very impressive performance by young Wesley So! He is the real deal! I am looking forward to seeing So take on the category 16 SPICE Cup which will take place in the end of September 2009 at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Congratulations to our fellow Filipino Wesley So. You inspire us! May your tribe increase!
We will be visiting Lubbock and Texas Tech to watch Wesley So play and to hear the SPICE hottie Susan sing and dance 🙂
Firstly, let me congratulate our very own wonderboy, Wesley, for garnering the highest score in Corus C.
Secondly, we want to thank you so much, Ms Susan Polgar for believing in the talent of Wesley. Win or lose, you always feature him in your blogsite, while others seem not to care.
More power!
God bless…
Is there any other news about the Corus tournament – like what’s going on in the A and B sections?
Are there other tournaments in line for So between now and September?
Congrats to Wesley So! More Power to you! And thank you Susan for always featuring him in your blogs. 🙂

Giri only managed a draw against Harika. GM So wins Group C by a full point. Very impressive.
Anyone know what Wesley’s new ELO rating is?
He should get at least 20 to 30 ELO increase? Could be lower?
Would be nice if he could b 2650+ now from 2627.
He gained about 10-12 points only.
Wesley’s Corus performance rating was 2686. His live rating is now 2647.
How about a short post-Corus tournament among the 3 teenage winners – Karjakin vs Caruana vs So? That would be superb.
Caruana will be in Group A next year while So and Giri will probably be in Group B. A double round robin featuring the 3 Corus winners this year will be nice.
