Shahriyar Mammadyarov remains strongest chess player of Azerbaijan

Shahriyar Mammadyarov remains the strongest grandmaster of Azerbaijan with the index of 2772. However, now he takes not the eighth but the ninth place.

Vugar Hashimov continues progressing. In just two months he raised to the 11th position from 13th. He has 2746 points which is an increase by 10 points over late December of the last year.

Teymur Rajabov is still 12th with his 2744 points. Rauf Mammadov (2667) is among the top 100. He is on the 77th place, a jump by 9 points in two months.

Vishvanatan Anand of India (2817) rose to the first place, outstripping Norwegian Magnus Karlsen (2815). Armenian Levon Aronyan is third (2808).

Among teams Azerbaijan is still ninth. Our country’s index is 2636 (the average indicator of the ten best chess players). Here Russia is first (2732), Ukraine is second (2697), China is third (2657).
