MONDAY, 3 May 2010
Former world chess champion Anatoly Karpov, who arrived in Sofia yesterday, confirmed that he will table a bid for FIDE president against current chess boss Kirsan Ilyumzhinov.”I truly hope that Bulgaria will support my bid. Your country is very interest in a shift in FIDE’s policy, as Topalov’s manager, Silvio Danailov, will run for the post of European Chess Union President.
“I have already secured the support of some of the strongest chess players in the world and I believe I can implement positive changes in chess politics,” Karpov told the national television.
Today, Karpov is going to meet Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov and after that he will make the first move of game seven of Anand-Topalov match. The current score is 3.5 to 2.5 for Anand.

He needs money.
Kirsan has money.
Guess who will run FIDE?
Why does Karpov want their support?
well because he wants to become FIDE president. Every federation has one vote.
Karpov is an idiot to think he can win. Kirsan will win and then any country that stood against him will suffer. Typical stupid USCF Executive Board is backing the wrong horse in this race.
The FIDE president should be determined based on a chess game between Karpov and Kirsan. Congrats Karpov!
