TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-KINGSVILLE
Chess Tournament Scholarship Criteria

Texas A&M University-Kingsville will award this scholarship to an individual who meets the Presidential Series Scholarship criteria as indicated:

□ Must attend Texas A&M University-Kingsville main campus starting Fall 2007
□ Must meet the criteria of the Presidential Series Scholarship

√ Gold has a four-year value of $16,000, Silver has a four-year value of $10,000, and Blue has a four-year value of $4,000.

√ To qualify for the Gold, the student must rank in the Top 10% of their class and a 1270 SAT or 29 ACT; for the Silver, the student must rank in the Top 15% of their class and a 1130 SAT or 25 ACT; for the Blue, the student must rank in the Top 25%of there class and a 970 SAT or 21 ACT.

Should the tournament winner not meet any of the above criteria, the university will award him/her a one-time $2,000 scholarship and a one semester housing scholarship.

Should the recipient be eligible for the Presidential Series Scholarship (Gold and Silver (both include housing), based on his/her early admission, the university will only award the housing based on the level of scholarship awarded. Should the recipient fall in the Blue category, the university will award a $500 housing scholarship also (as per past agreement) for one semester. To receive the housing scholarship, the student must reside in the Resident Halls on campus.

There will also be scholarships from Texas Tech University and University of Texas in Brownsville!!
