These are the 3 recipients of the scholarships from Texas Tech at the 2007 Susan Polgar World Open for Girls in Las Vegas
Each scholarship has a $9,000 annual value for out of state students x 4 years = $36,000 each x 3 scholarships
I would like to thank Texas Tech for providing the generous scholarships to this event!

The text in this post says this is ~100k in scholarships.
The photo clearly shows that the max value of these scholarships is 1000 dollars.
I am just asking…
$1,000 is for students in Texas. It would be $9,000 for out of state students. Then you would have to multiply it by 4 years. It was explained by the Tech professor who was there on behalf of Tech.
The amount awarded is in terms of a tuition rebate. For students that qualify for in-state tuition (Texas and bording parts of Oklahoma and New Mexico) this amount is subtracted from the tuition. So in this case the value is exactly as stated. However, in case of non-residents the value is higher because the scholarship qualifies the student for in-state tuition. Currently, the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition is $7,742 for the academic year. Hence the value to out-of-state students is: $7,742 + $1,000 or $8,742 per academic year. Each scholarship is given for four years so the the total value is therefore up to $34,968. Since all of the three recepients are out-of-state the potential total value of these awards is: 3 x $34,968 = $104,904. On top of these scholarship we anticipate that regular academic scholarships will be awarded.
