Shirov just won Mtel in dramatic fashion. Topalov and Carlsen tied for 2nd. Nakamura won his 2nd US Championship last Sunday. Onischuk and Hess tied for 2nd.
I am at the incredible CCI event this weekend with Dr. George Dean, Dr. Frank Brady and many other CCI members. I will report more about it later today. If you are a fan of chess collecting, stay tuned for many magnificent pictures tonight.
It’s Saturday Open Forum. The forum is yours. What would you like to discuss?
Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
I want to discuss about the future of chess. As we are in world-wide crisis, there are less and less sponsor for chess. What should we do to make chess more attractive?
What about chess as and Olympic discipline?
What about promoting chess in sport TV canal, (like snooker, golf, tenis …)?
What about changing the rule, so chess will be more “agressive” than it is now?

– I think they should give the title “World Champion” honorary to Victor Korchnoi – over 50 years in the top of the world.
– Back to the traditional tournaments and candidate finals like in the 70s, would spotlight chess more in the world and would be also more equitable for the top players.

Kortchnoi said,”This will be the first time and the last time you will nominate me to be honorary World Champion, in your life, Ja!”

after a terrible defeat some people are not nice any more, every player knows this feelin’ – especially if a person is extrovert an overreaction could easily happen – although a great perfomance should be prized.

Yes, yes. In this case, if people cannot be nice chess players then perhaps they should take up checkers or craps? Chess is a royal game for royal sportsmen.
