The match chess fans are looking forward to see is starting next week. It’s Anand versus Topalov for the World Championship title. I personally feel that a 12 game match is a little too short for a World Championship but it is certainly a lot better than a ridiculous 4 game knockout lottery world championship match. The other big story is former World Champion Anatoly Karpov taking on FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov in the upcoming FIDE election.

It is hard to tell who will win the match. This will depend on daily form and home preparation, I think.
The factors will be:
1.Home preparation
2.Mental fitness at the particular day of game
3.Luck
I think Topalov will win in 11 games. FIDE shouldn’t recognize anyone who won a 4 game match as world champion. It’s a joke.
Susan i need to ask a ? bout chessbase, when i go through their database they give a unclear symbol at the end of some of the positions in some of the old games. Is this unclear symbol there because the position is REALLY unclear or is it there because one cannot analyze the position using the old strategies? and is that why the top old guys are blunderin in the new more Ultramodern TYPE POSITIONS?.Oh Susan, that wasnt too bad by Ehlvest, an OLD HOUND DOG. peacE.

Both players will engage in a boring and uneventful computer-cooked preparations up to move 40….beyond that will be a safe exchange of blows neither men would willing to take the risk…sad to say but Top-level chess has become booooring these days because of computer-aided preparations, how I wish that the glory days of Tal and Fischer (the type of fierce competition) would come back…sigh
