It’s Saturday Open Forum. It has been an incredible week in Budapest for the Chess, Education and Cultural tour! It is great to see my family again! The Polgar Chess Day was a total success on every front! The USCF EB election is on going. Kramnik is leading Dortmund.

Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
Hello Susan, I have 2 questions for you. # 1 involves your sister Sophia. I have taken some lessons with her and I told her that I felt bad for her that she didnt get the GM Title. I have never met a more positive person in my life, in your sister Sofi. She said chess isnt all there is in life, and she has a family and painting now. When I told her that I thought she could have become a GM she thought she could have too. What are your thoughts on this and how do you feel about your sister not obtaining the highest chess title? My 2nd question involves Bobby Fischer. I know you got to know Bobby very well and played Fischer random and even studied games with him. How difficult is it for you to separate his beliefs and abrasive personality from the chess player and somewhat friend?
Thanks
Also Good Luck on The Election!
Thx for ur nice blog and this picture.
Good luck on everything specially chess 🙂
Hey Susan, I have a couple questions for you;
1) Why is it so much harder for chess players to make a living then in other sports such as tennis or golf.
2)Are you quiting competitive chess?
3) What do you think of bughouse chess?
Thanks, shabat shalom!
I don’t understand how do you manage to keep this blog, function as a mother, keep your chess knowledge updated=practice, Spice activity, UScF activity, guide a tour to Hungary, Be a wife .. Hey, did I miss anything?
Also How did you do in the Simu? I’d like to know that very much. Did you lose any games?
Yummy!! 🙂
Szofi, we love you!!!!! (and your paintings!) 8-))
Nice snake outfit 🙂
What are the plans for the Texas Tech team this year? And what will it take to get some Big XII matches going?
Are you an E4 player or a c4 player?
Susan,
I have a few questions regarding Spice and the TTU chess program.
1. How many titled players does TTU currently have?
2. Are you recruiting any titled players for the upcoming Fall and Spring sessions?
3. How long do you think it will take before you field a team at the Pan-Ams?
4. Do you have plans for the TTU team to compete at the upcoming 2008 Texas Scholastic Championships where teams like UTD and UTB/TSC will be competing?
Thanks,
Victor
The final position in today’s game between Kramnik and Naiditch. I don’t see why Naiditch had to resign. Can you elaborate please on that final position ? May be post it as a puzzle?!
also I think Leko, your fellow country man, has a winning position against gelfand. How do you assess the position as it is on the board right now? I am lately recognizing Leko’s great play. He is also like you one of Hungary’s gem.
can u comment on election as of yet as to who is in lead hope ur dream team is
Questions:
1) Why is it so much harder for chess players to make a living then in other sports such as tennis or golf.
It is not if you are multi-dimensional. If chess players insist on being single-dimensional, they will always have a hard time.
2)Are you quiting competitive chess?
Mostly, yes. I have nothing else to prove on a competitive level. Now it is time to do other productive things for chess.
3) What do you think of bughouse chess?
Fun but it should not be played while competing in serious events.
1. How many titled players does TTU currently have?
None.
2. Are you recruiting any titled players for the upcoming Fall and Spring sessions?
I have talked to some players but that is not my #1 focus for SPICE. My focus is more for the educational, research and outreach.
3. How long do you think it will take before you field a team at the Pan-Ams?
Maybe 1 year or more.
4. Do you have plans for the TTU team to compete at the upcoming 2008 Texas Scholastic Championships where teams like UTD and UTB/TSC will be competing?
I hope. However, UTD, UMBC and UTB are more focused on the competitive area. My biggest focus will be other areas of chess.
Q: I don’t understand how do you manage to keep this blog, function as a mother, keep your chess knowledge updated=practice, Spice activity, UScF activity, guide a tour to Hungary, Be a wife .. Hey, did I miss anything?
I love what I do and I care about what I do.
Best wishes,
Susan Polgar
Susan,
Have you thought about going on “Oprah” and contacting “The View” about women’s/girls’ chess? I think they would love to have someone like you as a guest, and you could get some great exposure for your programs and women’s chess. We need to raise the profile in the consciousness of the general public. Thanks.

P.S. Loved your photos and blog entries about the Polar Chess Cultural and Educational Tour, etc. in Budapest. I had no idea the city was so beautiful, I hope to visit it someday.
How come you didnt answer my questions? ; ( Were they too personal?
Susan,
I’m pleased that you moved to Texas! One of the best books you
could read to understand the culture of the area you’ve moved to
is the famous book, “Friday Night
Lights.” It is not just a book
(and movie) about high school foot-
ball, but also a sociology lesson.
