We have seen this one already, I think.
1. Bxh6 works.
black cannot take the bishop:
1… gxh6
2. Qxh6 and there is no defense for
3. Nf6+
aam you are incorrect after 2.Qxh6? Rd6! black can put up some defence.
2.Ng6! is very strong, however, leaving black completly lost.
Anon 3:03:00 PM CST, you are right, …Rd6 seems to hold, at least tactically. However, after
1. Ng6 Nxg6
2. Qxg6 Be6
3. Bxe6 Qxe6
the best white can do is give black isolated double pawns with 4. QxQ — because after 4. Qg3, Kh8, black seems to be ok.
Of course, the isolated doubled e-pawns are pretty bad for black.
Do you see some other tactics with Ng6?
1. Bg5 hxg5
2. Nxg5 Qd7
3. Qh7+ Kf8
4. Qxh8+ Ke7
5. Qxg7
Did I miss something?
re aam
I was talking about 2.Ng6! not 1.Ng6??
In reply to post #3: Rd6 juts leads to NXR which I think might lead to a won endgame for white?
