The 2nd Salento International Chess Open 2013 will take place in the green oasis of luxury Ecoresort Le Sirenè, Gallipoli (Lecce) in the deep South of Italy from 25th May to 1st June 2013.

Tournaments: Open A, Open B, Rapid, Blitz, Youth and FIDE Seminar for International Organizers

Prize fund: EUR 5000 + EUR 1000 in gifts and chess equipment. Top prize is EUR 1000.
 

Open A: players ELO FIDE rating >= 1800
Open B: players with ELO FIDE rating > 1400 – < 2000
Time Control: 90’x 40+15′ + 30” increment from the first move
 

Pairing system: Swiss-Dutch

Italian players or foreign players living in Italy on a regular basis must have Italian Chess Federation membership.

Live games will be broadcasted online by ScacchiRandagi.

The organizers are following the motto – “Chess player is, again, center of everything!”

Ecoresort Le Sirenè lies peacefully in one of the most beautiful bays in Salento (Puglia), with a wonderful view of the Torre del Pizzo cove; it offers rooms with all usual comforts, a private beach, swimming pool and solarium, tennis and football courts. 

The resort is connected to the center of Gallipoli (5km) by a regular shuttle-bus service. During the event there will be sightseeing trips to the historical small towns of Gallipoli (5km from hotel), Santa Maria di Leuca (approx 45 km) and Lecce (approx 45km). 

The invited players are captain of the Italian national team GM Arthur Kogan, rising star of the Italian chess GM Roberto Mogranzini, IM Pierluigi Piscopo, IM Alessio Valsecchi, WGM Anna Rudolf, Mira and Sanja Dedijer.
