Chess Daily News from Susan Polgar
That’s amazing.
Sorry, standing after eight rounds. Today, sunday, still a round to go. But anyway, Sadler wins!!
Impressive comeback! Stressing the strength of the previous generation.
Matthew Sadler is a VERY strong player. Did you see what he did to Volkov in the last round at Oslo? Sadler won in fine style and Volkov is a very talented player himself!!! What a player Matthew is he should be playing at the London Chess Classic!! I’d say only Michael Adams is perhaps stronger than Matthew Sadler in the UK and even that’s not certain. Matthew is an awesome talent who should playing against the very best players in the world. I bet he’d give them a serious run for their money!! I remember when Matthew effectively quit chess to work in I.T. and just couldn’t believe that such a great player at such a young age had been lost to the game. Matthew had every chance to become world champion he was that talented. I still think and believe with the incredible talent he has that Matthew could still challenge for the world title given the chance, after all he’s still only 37 and playing great chess but whether he gets that chance to challenge for the world title remains to be seen. But wouldn’t it be fantastic for the game if Matthew after spending 10 years away from top flight chess came back and won the world title! Oh my goodness can you imagine the media attention that would get around the world!! Well done again Matthew for winning your second title in a row. The come back kid is on a roll so let’s hope he continues his dramatic and unexpected rise to the top of chess once again. Get in their lad, keep on smiling, keep on playing great chess and beat them all!! The world of chess is taking notice. Sadler is back!
