Russia wins the 2009 World Youth Chess Olympiad
India takes silver, Armenia takes bronze

The Russian team consisting of FM Ivan Bukavshin, FM Daniil Dubov, Vladimir Belous, and Ilia Iljiushenok won the 2009 World Youth Chess Olympiad. Russia collected a total of 30 game points out of 40 possible.

Second place is for India with 28 points, while the bronze medal goes to Armenia with 27.

The Olympiad was a repetition of the events from 2008, however, the first two positions were switched and Russia clintched the title with a last round victory.

This was the fifth edition of the Youth Chess Olympiad and was played at the Municipality of Akhisar. Almost 120 players from 16 different countries and a total of 22 teams participated.
