The Cup of Siberian Bank OAO Sberbank Russia was held on 16-18th November at the bank’s building in 20 Serebrennikovskaya street in Novosibirsk.

Eleven top Russian Grandmasters competed in the round robin tournament with the rapid time control 15′+10”.

European champion Dmitry Jakovenko was in the lead after the first day with 4,5/6 points, but his late defeat against the local GM Dmitry Bocharov allowed Sergei Rublevsky to leap ahead and claim a clear first place with 6,5 points.

Bocharov and Jakovenko share 2nd with 6 points each.

2-3. Bocharov Dmitry 2620 and Jakovenko Dmitry 2741 – 6
4-5. Malakhov Vladimir 2709 and Nepomniachtchi Ian 2707 – 5.5

Alexander Morozevich was earlier announced as the top seeded player but he withdrew in order to better prepare for the Grand Prix in Tashkent and was replaced by Vladimir Malakhov.

The prize fund was 550,000 RUB (about 13,700 EUR) and the winner earned 150,000 RUB (3,700 EUR).
