1. Qxd7! Bxd7 2. h7 and the pawn queens leaving white with a won position.
1)Qxd7! leaves black hopeless.
If
1….Bxd7 2.h7 and white queens the pawn.
If
1….Kxh7 2.Qxf6 and mate is inevitable.
Am I missing something here?
Qd7 Bd7
h7
1. Qxd7 Bxd7
2. h7 And nothing can stop white from queening
Queen takes rook and then h7
Easy!
From a first look, 1. Qxd7 Bxd7 2. h7 seems to have the net effect of removing black’s rook from play for the loss of a pawn to white.
In this position white’s best play is,
1. Qxd7!
After which black has nothing better than,
1. … Bxd7
2. h7
And no matter how black plays white is able to advance and queen the h-pawn.
1-0
1.Qxd7 Bxd7 2.h7 1-0
That’s a nice example from the end of a long, difficult endgame. I have replayed that game yesterday so I won’t give the solution. Anyway after White’s fine next move, Black’s best reply was to resign.
1. Qxd7!, Bxd7 2. h7 +- and there is no way to stop the promotion.
In problem chess this theme is called phoenix. 🙂
Best wishes
Jochen
Qxd7
Q x R picks up the B and R for the pawn, leaving a won game.
Well, seems easy…
1. QxR, BxQ
2. h7, 1-0
1. Qxd7 and black can choose between white queen or loose Bf5.
I don’t think it’s difficult, even I saw that if white exchanges his queen for the black rook, the h-pawn can’t be stopped and white soon gets another queen. I checked with Fritz and in fact it’s mate in 54, so it’s long indeed 🙂
I would play Qxd7 !
If BxQ, then the h pawn is unstoppable.
1.Qxd7.
Qxd7!
If black moves Bxd7, there is nothing to stop white from making a queen out of the h-pawn.
Hello
1. Qxd7 , Bxd7
2. h7
Greetings from Spain
1.Qxd7! Bxd7 2.h7 1-0
Kind regards,
PdV
QxR
QxR followed by h7.
‘How should White proceed?’
I am not really sure. Thanks for asking.
