Bg6 threatens mate or wins exchange
Bxg6, and all hell is let loose!! black must deal with the bishop threat, thereby allowing white to reduce the black rooks thereafter exposed. white Queen is ready for Qb8+ before getting into the fray if black dares R8e7. white wins playing first!!
1. Bxg6 hxg6
2. Rxe5 Rxe5
3. Qb8+ Kg7
and now both lines win:
4. Rxe5 Nd7
5. Qc7 Qxe5
6. Qxd7+
white is many pawns up, the a pawn is an outside passer. etc
or
4. Qxe5 Qxe5
5. Rxe5 Nxa4
6. Re3
white has more pawns and an exchange, should be an easy win
1. B:g6 threatens mate on h7, so black must recapture the B. Then 2. R:e5 R:e5 3. Q:b8+ forces an ending where white has a huge material advantage.
1. Bxg6! hxg6 forced
( 1……. Qxg6 2. Rxe5 +- )
( 1……. R8e7 2. Qb8+ +- )
2. Rxe5 Rxe5
3. Qb8+ and white picks up the rook.
1-0
Qb7?
Qb7?
Oops. I meant Qc7, not Qb7??, Nxb7 (duh…lol)
1. Bxg6.
Black is forced to take the bishop.
If 1..hxg6
then
2. Rxe5 Rxe5
3. Qb8+ Kh7 (one variation)
4. Qxe5 winning the exchange and a pawn.
1.Bxg6 hxg6 2.Rxe5 Rxe5 3.Qb8+ Kg7 4.Qxe5 Qxe5 5.Rxe5 Nxa4
White can win the exchange and thus the game:
1. Bxg6! and Black is lost.
1. … hxg6
1. … Qxg6 2.Rxe5 also leaves Black with an exchange and two pawns less. Black must meet the threat Qxh7#
2. Rxe5 Rxe5
3. Qb8+ Kh7
4. Qxe5
(1)Bg6 hg (2)Re5…White wins
(1) Bg6!! white wins
