This is one of the many chess sets at the OS Museum in Post, Texas. Mr. Giles McCrary has collected around 80 chess sets from all different countries. Some of them are incredibly rare. One of them is dated back to B.C.
Mr. McCrary has kindly offered us to have these rare chess sets displayed at Texas Tech University as part of the SPICE program for everyone to see!

Not the kind you’d play blitz on is it?
You break it you bought it!

According the Wikipedia, the earliest documented chess pieces date from around the 7th Century AD. So, the dating of one the chess sets to “B.C.” is probably controversial.
